Help Save our Historic Battlefields
The Army Historical Foundation, and CVBT, Present the 2024 Spring Battle Ride
Embark on a historical journey with The Army Historical Foundation’s Spring Battle Ride, Spotsylvania Court House, “The Horrors of Many Battlefields” on May 4, 2024. The tour will explore the battle for the Muleshoe Salient for Spotsylvania Court House in Virginia, a notoriously violent clash that marked a turning point in the Civil War. Participants will spend the day learning about critical campaign decisions, witnessing live fire demonstrations of Civil War-era weaponry, and examining preserved field fortifications.
This Battle Ride is hosted in partnership with the Central Virginia Battlefields Trust (CVBT) and will feature renowned Civil War historian Robert Lee Hodge, who was prominently featured in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Confederates in the Attic.
Central Virginia Battlefields Trust, Inc. joins the American Battlefield Trust, and others, as a plaintiff in appeal of Wilderness Crossing Development decision.
“A project of this magnitude is unprecedented for this significantly historical area,” said CVBT Board President Tom Van Winkle. “Orange County apparently failed to follow proper procedures and also failed to reply to several queries from the National Park Service and other public entities. CVBT will continue to advocate to do the right thing for the area and our nation’s history.”

ACT NOW!
The places where thousands of Americans gave their lives during the Civil War are rapidly being lost to development. Their suffering and sacrifice deserve our respect for the grounds where they fell.
