“Glorious Courage: John Pelham in the Civil War,”

Join the Central Virginia Battlefields Trust for a special book-signing event on Saturday, July 19, 2025! Author Sarah Kay Bierle will share about her newest book “Glorious Courage: John Pelham in the Civil War,” and how CVBT has preserved Pelham’s Corner which is part of Fredericksburg Battlefield. Meet us for an open-house event 10:30am to 12noon in the community room at Grace Fellowship Church, 1600 Stafford Ave, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Short program begins at 10:45am. Books will be available for purchase!

Have you driven by the Central Virginia Battlefield Trust’s preserved land at Pelham’s Corner in Fredericksburg and wondered “who was John Pelham”? Why is there a cannon on the property? Come join us for a book-signing with local author Sarah Kay Bierle on July 19, 2025 and learn more about this young officer’s life, legacy, and role during the Battle of Fredericksburg. Open house, 10:30am to 12noon in the Community room at Grace Fellowship Church (1600 Stafford Ave, Fredericksburg, VA 22401). A short history program begins at 10:45am and books will be available!

About the Author

Sarah Kay Bierle works in the public history field, focusing on education and battlefield preservation. A graduate of Thomas Edison State University with a B.A. in history, she has spent years researching, writing, and speaking about the American Civil War. Her work helps audiences gain a stronger appreciation and understanding for the accounts of real people caught in the struggles of the Civil War era.
